About Me
I began my career as a therapist in 1999 by studying for an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. After qualifying I went on to train with Relate so that I could work with couples who were experiencing difficulties in their relationship. As my experience grew I was drawn to working with the arts and I went on to train with the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education in London. I completed four years of training with them and I obtained a Masters Degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. My most recent training has been in Counselling for Depression. I adhere to UKCP and HCPC codes of ethics and I attend courses throughout the year in order to maintain my Continuing Professional Development. I have attended four days training with Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors (PODS).
Experience
I have a vast wealth of experience working within the NHS and I am currently working part-time for them. In the past I counselled young offenders within a forensic setting and I have worked with women survivors of sexual abuse. I have also offered counselling at a Women’s Centre. I have a particular interest in working with people who are experiencing depression and anxiety and with people who have experienced various types of trauma in their lives. I also have experience of providing couple counselling for people who are experiencing difficulties within their relationship.
